Software
engineering is an actively evolving and frequently confusing
discipline, even for professional software developers.
There are many conferences, dozens of Web sites, hundreds
of books, thousands of articles, and millions (it seems)
of blogs on the subject. Here we collect pointers
to our own contributions to the subject, as well as
references to external material that we consider
to have extraordinary value to the software practitioner and
the software development stakeholder. Our emphasis is
on software engineering in product software development
and in embedded systems, but the references are not limited
to only that.
•
Forums.
This link will take you to an index of SEA
Forums.
These forums allow our clients,
consultants, partners, and visitors to share their experiences
in software development and to
debate topics of classic as well as current interest.
There is even a Forum dedicated
to feedback on any of the SEA Notes essays that we publish. Forums
can be read by anyone, but you must register in order
to contribute.
•
White
Papers.
A collection of technical and informational articles
written by SEA
consultants and partners on significant aspects of software
engineering as a discipline, a
profession, and an industry. All white papers
can be downloaded.
•
SEA
Notes.
SEA
Notes is a collection of irregularly published short
essays on aspects of software development.
These are written by SEA consultants who
frequently have tips to share with our readers and sometimes
have a pet peeve they want to air.
SEA Notes includes contributions to our special Software
Project First-Aid Kit. These are high-impact,
low-cost things you can do or starting
doing right now to keep your software projects out of
trouble. You can sign up to have
SEA
Notes delivered by e-mail free of charge.

•
Published
Articles.
This is a list of published articles (in print
or on public Web sites) that we
found useful and information and that we recommend to
our clients and visitors. The
list is grouped by subject.
•
Organizations
and other Web Sites.
This page collects links to professional societies, conferences,
and Web sites that focus on software development and
engineering.
•
Professional
Bookshelf.
SEA
consultants tend to collect a lot of books, and we try
to read most of them. This is a list of the more
notable books in the areas relevant to
product software development that we feel should be
part of the professional practitioner’s
personal bookshelf.

you would to see additional resource areas, or you have
suggestions for resources to add to these areas,
